Directions: Driving east on I-94 towards Milwaukee, take exit 305A towards the airport on I-895. Take exit 5AG off I-895 onto S 84th St. and proceed south about one mile. At W Grange turn left (east) and drive about one half mile to S 76th St. Turn right on S 76th St for about one half mile to the start point on your left.
Parking: Ample parking is available adjacent to the park.
Description: Greendale was one of three "Greenbelt: communities founded in 1936 as part of President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal. Property was owned by the government and rented to families based on income, family size, and housing needs. Our walk begins at the center of the Village, the site of a variety of shops and the Visitor Center, and includes historic buildings, gentle hills, and wooded trails. We will pass many of the "Originals", homes built with a "backwards" design--the front yards are in the back". Winding paths make their through this "walking village". First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt walked some of these same pathways on her visit to Greendale in 1937.
