Whitefish Dunes State Park is located about 16
miles north of the city of Sturgeon Bay off Hwy 57. From Sturgeon Bay, take
WI-42/WI-57 north. Take a right to continue to follow WI-57, driving through
Institute and Valmy. After Valmy, turn right on CR-WD (Clark Lake Road) and
follow the road into the park. Watch for the walk signs and AVA banner. The
Start Point is the enclosed Picnic Shelter along Lake Michigan.
There is a park admission fee. |

| Description: |
Whitefish Dunes is a
day-use only (no camping) park located on Door County’s rugged Lake Michigan
shoreline. The park preserves the most substantial sand dunes on the western
shore of Lake Michigan. Both walks have the option to hike to the top of Old
Baldy, the only climbable dune, which offers views of Lake Michigan and Clark
Lake inland. The park also has a nature center with exhibits and interactive
displays. |
