Start Point:

The start
point will be the picnic shelter at Orchid Heights Park at the end of Park
Trail. Look for the walk signs and the AVA banner. |

Start Times:
|
This will be a guided walk after dark. Walkers
will depart in three groups:
1. Slower 10K walkers will depart at 6:30 p.m. and can expect to finish in about
2 ½ hours.
2. Faster 10K walkers will depart at 6:45 p.m. and can expect to finish in about
2 hours.
3. 5K walkers will depart at 7:00 p.m. and can expect to finish in about 1 ½
hours. |

From Middleton follow Century Ave (“M”). Turn
left (north) on County Q. Follow County Q for 0.8 miles, turn left on Indigo
Way into Northlake. Turn left again on Sandhill Road, passing Redtail Pass and
Grassland Trail. Turn left on Park Trail and follow it across Sedgemeadow Road
into the parking lot for Orchid Heights Park and the start point at the shelter. . |

| Description: |
The walk will pass through the terrain covered
by the 350 acres of the Pheasant Branch Conservancy through a variety of
terrains, including woodlands, wetlands, and prairies with a leg through the
planned Middleton Hills community featuring a variety of prairie-style homes.
The 10K walk will include a hike up to an overlook point with a view of the
entire Conservancy and some outstanding views of Lake Mendota and Madison. |
